The restroom requires a code. The code appears on your receipt. The cheapest item on the menu costs $6.75. I did the arithmetic and concluded that this establishment has found a way to charge admission to a basic human function, then dress it up with reclaimed wood and a chalkboard about community.

I did not buy the coffee. I did not see the restroom. I am therefore unable to review it, which is precisely the point.

SCORE: 0 plungers. A door with a price tag.

Paradise Lost: Shangri-La At A Two-Pump Gas Station In The Middle Of Nowhere

Van Horn, Texas · The Last Chance Fuel Stop

A Liar And A Coward: The Sign Says "Cleaned Hourly"

Toledo, Ohio · PillBarn Pharmacy

Posted at eye level: a laminated sign reading that this restroom is monitored for your safety and cleaned hourly. Directly beneath it: a wastebasket overflowing onto the tile, an empty paper towel dispenser, and a hand dryer that answered my wave with the silence of a dead man.
