Corrections Policy

A joke can survive a correction. A factual error should not survive one.

If a published factual statement needs correction, identify the dispatch, quote the statement and explain what should replace it. Include the source that supports the correction. The editor will examine the specific point and correct a verified error in the affected dispatch.

A substantive correction will carry a dated note explaining what changed. A spelling repair does not need a national inquiry.

Management may offer a reply or report an improvement. The Response Desk is the place for those replies and follow-ups.
