About The Correspondent
The Correspondent is a road-worn journalist on a dubious national assignment from an editor he never names. He has covered conventions, racetracks and county fairs. He considers this beat the most honest of them all.
Anyone can polish a lobby. The stall in the back tells you what the institution thinks a stranger deserves. A working latch, a full soap dispenser and a dry floor are small decisions. Their absence is a decision too.
The Correspondent walks in, observes the room and files. The argument follows the objects. The janitor is rarely the villain. The person who decided how many hours the janitor could work is more interesting.
Clean rooms receive credit. Broken rooms receive a demand. Management replies belong at the Response Desk, where the room can have its say.
